Online Condolence Book FAQ

The Online Condolence Book is a digital space within the unique Ghana Memorial URL where condolences and tributes can be shared online.

Ghana Memorial is an everlasting digital obituary that allows families to honour, preserve, and share the life story of a loved one online in a respectful and culturally appropriate way. It is also includes other products such as the Online Condolence Book, Online Donation Link and the Funeral Programme (only in the paid version). Together they form the Ghana Memorial Suite. In a later stage, these products will also be offered separately, the online condolence book as an embedded page for companies that want to enable condolence for an employee that passed away. The online donation link could also be used separately by other parties, eg by churches to raise money. The Funeral Programme is now an alternative to any printed programme (the funeral page is enabled to be printed anyway) but we may want to extend that to a user can change that to a more sophisticated personal design.

Anyone, anywhere in the world can submit a condolence message on a Public Ghana Memorial. On an Invite-Only Ghana Memorial, anyone with access can submit a condolence message.

No. The Online Condolence Book cannot be purchased separately. It is automatically included with every Free Ghana Memorial. In a later stage we will offer the Online Condolence Book as a separate product; Eg as an embedded page for companies that want to enable condolence for an employee that passed away.

Yes. Every account that creates a Free Ghana Memorial automatically gets access to the Online Condolence Book.

Yes. All condolence messages can be moderated by the Ghana Memorial Administrator or appointed editors before appearing publicly.

Moderation helps ensure respectful language, prevents spam, and protects the wishes of the family.

Approved messages are visible according to the Ghana Memorial visibility setting: Public or Invite-Only.

Yes. Administrators and authorised editors can remove condolence messages at any time.

No. Once approved, condolence messages remain part of the Ghana Memorial permanently.

Condolence messages follow the visibility of the Ghana Memorial and are not individually private.

Not emojis but simple expressions or short messages can be used.

Yes. Contributors may write condolence messages in any language.

Yes. Administrators can receive notifications when new condolence messages are submitted.

Yes. The Administrator can disable new condolence submissions at any time.

Yes. It is designed to respect Ghanaian funeral traditions while remaining accessible to diaspora families.
